VIMAS Launches Water Quality Education Program in VI Schools

November 25, 2019 - On Monday, Nov.18, the Virgin Islands Marine Advisory Service (VIMAS) launched a Water Quality Education Program, with the Charlotte Amalie High School piloting the program. The program is expected to expand to include other high schools and middle schools in St. Thomas and St. Croix, in 2020. The new program is intended to educate Virgin Islands youth on the importance of water in our everyday lives, and how to properly test water quality, as well as filter unclean water. Read More

UVI to Receive $28.6 Million from EDA to Support Efforts to Diversify & Strengthen Medical Sector in V.I.

October 01, 2019 - The U.S. Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) announced on Sept. 30, that it is investing $28.6 million in the University of the Virgin Islands to support efforts to diversify and strengthen the resiliency of the economy by helping to grow the medical sector, primarily by investing in the medical school project and the medical simulation center. March 19, 2019 - The University of the Virgin Islands is celebrating the 57th anniversary of its Charter this month with wide range of events. The University will host a Charter Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Gov. January 23, 2019 - In a special session on Jan. 23, the University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees approved policies and procedures to aide with the implementation of Act No. 8155, the Virgin Islands Higher Education Scholarship Program, which requires that financial aid be granted to residents of the Virgin Islands for post-secondary education at UVI.
