The Virgin Islands Marine Advisory Service (VIMAS), a part of the University of Puerto Rico Sea Grant College Program, is located within the Center for Marine and Environmental Studies at the University of the Virgin Islands. VIMAS works with the Virgin Islands community to raise awareness about our natural resources and foster environmental stewardship. Our Focus Areas align with those of the National Sea Grant College Program and are met through the use of education/outreach and research practices.
The Virgin Islands Marine Advisory Service (VIMAS) has offices both on the St. Thomas campus as well as the Albert A. Sheen St. Croix campus. Both jurisdictions are headed by Howard Forbes Jr. with support from student interns; we work diligently to ensure the sustainability of our natural resources within the Virgin Islands.
Join us for the Annual Coastweeks beach cleanups! This year, cleanups will begin on September 17th and will continue until November. Click the "VOLUNTEER" button below to register for upcoming cleanups
