VI EPSCoR to Host 2022 Annual Conference  “Our Islands, Our Youth, Our Future” on October 27 - 28, 2022 

The Virgin Islands Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (VI-EPSCoR) will host its Annual Conference on Oct. 27-28, highlighting the next generation of STEM professionals: the youth of the Virgin Islands. The event, titled “Our Islands, Our Youth, Our Future,” will focus on students and their mentors in the U.S. Virgin Islands that are supported by VI-EPSCoR, and specifically on their research success and path to impactful employment and opportunities.   read more

UVI Resumes Normal Hours of Operation After Passage of Hurricane Fiona

The University of the Virgin Islands announced today that there was no damage to its facilities following the passage of Hurricane Fiona.   Both campuses did experience fallen branches and some impact to trees.  The University will resume normal operations on Monday, Aug. 19. read more

UVI to Remain Open as it Monitors Tropical Storm Fiona

The University of the Virgin Islands announced today that it will remain open and continue to monitor storm conditions associated with Tropical Storm Fiona. The University’s Emergency Operations Committee (EOC) met early on Friday and received a report on the storm’s track. The EOC will continue to monitor TS Fiona and update the University community as needed. read more

UVI Monitors the Approach of Tropical Storm Fiona - University Community Encouraged to Prepare

The University of the Virgin Islands continues to monitor Tropical Storm Fiona. According to the National Hurricane Center’s 8 a.m. advisory, TS Fiona is located at 16.6 north and 53.6 west with maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour. Its present movement is 13 miles per hour. There are no watches or warnings in effect for the U.S. Virgin Islands at this time. read more

UVI Continues to Monitor Tropical Depression Seven, Employees Asked to Enter Phase Two Preparations

The University of the Virgin Islands continues to monitor all activity associated with Tropical Depression Seven. According to the National Hurricane Center’s 11 a.m. advisory, TD Seven is located at 16.5 north and 49.6 west with maximum sustained winds of 35 miles per hour. Its present movement is at 14 miles per hour. There are no watches or warnings in effect for the U.S. Virgin Islands at this time. read more

The VI Energy Office (VIEO) and the Caribbean Green Technology Center (CGTC) of the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) are pleased to announce the dates of the inaugural VI Energy Sustainability Fair aimed at empowering Virgin Islanders to transition towards energy independence and become more resilient. The events will take place at the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas on Oct. 15, and at the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix on Oct. 30. read more
