Media Invited to Cover UVI Fall Research Symposium

UVI holds student fall research symposium

Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands 17th annual Fall Research Symposium on Sunday, Sept. 27, featuring an array of innovative and creative projects from some 40 students. The event will showcase research UVI students have conducted at home and abroad.

Projects span a variety of topics, including biology, marine biology, chemistry, computer science, technology, physics, astronomy, engineering, agriculture, psychology and mathematics.

 Some of the specific student presentations this year, will be: “Climate Data Analysis,” Antioxidant Activity in Fresh Herbs,” “Fingerprinting Fish,” and “Wind Turbine Three Dimensional Design.”

A symposium highlight will be the presentation of work from the first group of UVI students to complete the Cybersecurity Fellows program at Norfolk State University.  That presentation is titled “Cyber Analysis, Simulation and Experimentation Environment.”

The symposium is free and open to the public.  The media is invited to attend and interview students, as well as photograph research projects.
