This weekend marks the beginning of Coastweeks Beach cleanup activities across the Virgin Islands. Members of the media are invited to cover the first Coastweeks Beach Cleanup scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m. on John Brewer’s Bay Beach, located across from the University of the Virgin Islands St. Thomas Campus. There are also beach cleanups on St. Croix, with volunteers from various University of the Virgin Islands student organizations.
The events are expected to draw hundreds of volunteers from the community to rid the beach of debris and garbage.
The Coastweeks cleanup is coordinated by the University of the Virgin Islands Marine Advisory Services (VIMAS). There will be ample opportunities for interviews and photos.
