Members of the media are invited to cover selected activities planned during UVI’s fall semester Orientation Week for new and transfer student. Official Orientation Week activities run from Monday, Aug. 17, through Saturday, Aug. 22. Numerous sessions are designed to help students adjust to the academic and social aspects of college life.
Prime events for coverage are: Residence Hall Move-in Day on both campuses, from noon to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17; and the 2nd Annual New Student Convocations are set at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, on St. Thomas, and at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, on St. Croix. New students will receive a “medallion” designating them as members of the University. Faculty, wearing academic regalia, will attend, and UVI President David Hall will present a formal address. Both convocations will be followed by welcome receptions for the newly minted UVI Buccaneers.
