Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the closing ceremony of the UVI Cooperative Extension Service Agricultural Enrichment Summer Camp at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, in the Administration and Conference Center, first-floor conference room, on the St. Thomas Campus.
Eighteen students, ages 14-21, will be recognized for completing a six-week training program in the agricultural science field. The Agricultural Enrichment Summer Camp is designed to create awareness of careers in the field of agricultural science, including crop and livestock producers, landscapers, agricultural instructors, inspectors, and enforcement officers. The program also equipped participants with job preparation skills through classroom presentations, practical exercises and field activities.
At the closing ceremony, presentations that reflect the student’s summer work experiences will be showcased. The camp was held through a partnership with the Department of Human Services, the Department of Labor, and the Virgin Islands University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and the UVI Cooperative Extension Service.
