From math and science to research and leadership development, the University of the Virgin Islands will offer a wide range of summer enrichment programs and camps for students, teachers and the general community. Summer programs begin in June 2015.

“We are extremely excited about our summer 2015 program offerings with a number of new programs being introduced this year,” said Dr. Tonjia Coverdale, director of UVI Summer Programs. “There is something for everyone ranging from elementary-aged through senior citizens.”

New this year is a five-week Cyber Camp VI, a program for students in grades six to 12 interested in learning basic cyber security concepts.  Students in the program will become eligible to join the next round of The Cyber Patriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition in fall 2015.  The competition is sponsored by the Air Force Association.

During the summer camp students will be introduced to basic cyber security concepts and hands-on activities required for the competition. Speakers from academia, industries and Sandia National Laboratories will discuss various issues related to cyber security. This program is funded with the support of a grant from the Department of Energy in collaboration with Norfolk State University. The Cyber Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, June 1 through Friday, July 3, on the St. Thomas Campus.

The UVI summer schedule will also feature college preparatory programs, undergraduate and graduate academic sessions, and a teacher training program.
