Members of the media are invited to photograph and cover a conference on peace and conflict resolution presented by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of the Virgin Islands. The conference is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 27, in the Administration and Conference Center first floor conference room.
International scholars on peace and conflict resolution will discuss hot spots of conflict around the world and how peaceful solutions can be found. The morning includes keynote speeches by peace scholars. After lunch, the forum opens for a panel discussion involving the audience.
Speakers include:
- Dr. Janet Gerson, an international peace research scholar who is currently education director at the International Institute on Peace Education.
- Dr. Lejla Music, assistant professor at the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dr. Music witnessed and survived genocide in her native Bosnia.
- Mr. Danny Tom, survivor of the 9/11 World Trade Center bombing. Mr. Tom was on the 70th floor of the North Tower when the bombing occurred.
