The UVI men's basketball squad hopes to boost its Paradise Jam win record to 3-0 in a game Saturday, Nov. 19, against league rival Metropolitan University (UMET). The game, slated for 9:30 p.m. in the Sports and Fitness Center, will follow the evening's regular Paradise Jam matchup.
In their first Paradise Jam appearance, in 2009, the Buccaneers edged UMET with a last-second shot. The Bucs also won last year's matchup against Pontificia Universidad Catholica. The game Saturday against UMET will be the first official game of the Bucs' Liga Athletica Interuniversitaria (LIA) season. The contest will give local fans a good look at the Buccaneer's 12-man squad, which includes eight members who played high school ball in the territory. Click here to view the UVI Bucs Team Roster.
The UVI Dance Team and Cheerleaders will perform during halftime.
Head Coach Sean Georges encouraged all UVI fans to "come out and support us. Go Bucs!"
The on-island portion of the Paradise Jam basketball tournament starts today, Nov. 18. Visit the Paradise Jam website - www.paradisejam.com - for tourney schedules and other details.
