Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the 28th annual Afternoon on the Green from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, on the University of the Virgin Islands’ Herman E. Moore Golf Course. The theme for this year’s event is “A Centennial Celebration of Delicacies.” All proceeds from Afternoon on the Green will support the Edward E. Thomas Volunteer Scholarship Awards.

“We are looking forward to hosting the absolute best event this year in commemoration of our 55th anniversary and the Centennial Celebration,” said Mitchell Neaves, vice president of Institutional Advancement.   “Afternoon on the Green is the largest taste event in the territory which attracts over 3,500 people annually.  We showcase food, entertainment and most of all our high-quality academic programs.”  He continued, “We look forward to welcoming the entire Virgin Islands community to our campus for a fun-filled day.”

The Afternoon on the Green will feature food cooked by some of the best chefs on the island; live entertainment including Cool Sessions Brass, DJ Skelly, and the Macislyn Bamboula Dancers; family fun consisting of bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals and games; and friendly competition for the best food in a variety of categories.
