Entrance of UVI Troupe

Nothing is more fabulous than Carnival in St. Thomas! Come take a journey with the University of the Virgin Islands as we show off our global expansion, which is depicted in our theme “UVI Family and Friends presenting a Global Explosion That Never Ends.” This theme highlights the global reach and expansion of the University of the Virgin Islands through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding with universities in countries such as St. Maarten, Jamaica, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, China, Dominica, and UVI continues to reach around the world to foster greater connections for our students.

Our troupe is fueled by our passion for providing our students and faculty with a globally interactive educational foundation that incorporates and promotes the exchange and understand of various cultures across the world.

Section One

Section One titled, “International Odyssey,” is comprised of the brilliant and powerful colors of red, white and yellow. This color combination represents the establishment of a new direction and synergies that will propel the University of the Virgin Islands forward. The headset of this masterpiece is bejeweled with yellow fabric and red rhinestones. This headset cascades into a peak of brilliant red, yellow and white peacock feathers that communicates welcome to the world. UVI is a globally interactive University that is excited about our new ventures in creating international exchanges for students, staff, and faculty.

Section Two

Section two titled, “Caribbean Excursion,” explodes into a kaleidoscope of brilliant colors of blue and green representing the partnerships and collaborations between the universities and centers of higher education within the Caribbean region. The white in the costume signifies the illumination of higher learning and accomplishment. While the hint of gold epitomize success, victory and realization of one’s goal to become educated.

We invite you to partner with us at UVI where we “Specialize in Futures.” The costumes were designed by Ainsley Mitchell and art design by Leesha Lake. The University of the Virgin Islands carnival troupe is sponsored by “Josie’s Special Events.”

Music is provided by the awesome “Frontline and Family” band featuring their road-march big tune “Coming!” The Chairperson of the UVI Carnival troupe is Jessica Taylor of UVI.

Nothing is more fabulous than Carnival in St. Thomas, with “UVI Family and Friends presenting a Global Explosion That Never Ends.”
