Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph a Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship presentation at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, in front of the Ralph Paiewonsky Library on the St. Thomas Campus.
An ROTC cadet enrolled in the University of the Virgin Islands’ ROTC Program will be awarded a three year scholarship. The goal of the University’s ROTC program, established on St. Croix’s Albert A. Sheen Campus in 2005 and on the St. Thomas Campus in 2008, is to train cadets to become officers in the U.S. Army.
UVI Provost Camille McKayle and Maj. Gen. Peggy C. Combs, commanding general of the U.S. Army Cadet Command will be on hand.
Maj. Gen. Combs, who has 29 year of service, has held many leadership and staff positions at the tactical, operational and strategic levels. Her awards and decorations include the Army Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal and the Joint Service Achievement Medal – just to name a few.
