Media Invited to Cover 2015 CERC Health Disparities Conference

Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the Caribbean Exploratory Research Center’s 8th Annual Health Disparities Institute titled “Eliminating Health Disparities in Minority Communities,” on Oct. 15-16, at the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef and Morning Star Beach Resort.

The theme of the conference is “Eliminating Health Disparities in Minority Communities: Translational Research, Targeted Policy Revisions, Community-Based Participatory Research, and Capacity Building.”

 Thursday, Oct. 15

  • Noon to 1:30 p.m. – Dr. Kimlin T. Ashing-Giwa, Beckman Research Institute professor Topic: “Interventions to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities and Increase Health Equity in Minority Populations.”  (The Donna M. Christensen Lecture Series)

Friday, Oct. 16

  • 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. – Addressing Health Disparities in Minority Female Populations: A Look at Violence Against Women (session)
  • 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. - Addressing Health Disparities in Minority Populations: Considering Chronic Diseases (session)
