This is a UVI Special Announcement for Tuesday, Oct. 14. It is for the entire University community. UVI will open on its normal schedule today. UVI students who live on St. John and may be affected by port closures should call UVI's St. John Academic Center at 340-693-1585 for class accommodations.
According to VITEMA, the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency, the center of Hurricane Gonzalo passed just northeast of the Virgin Islands overnight and moved into the open Atlantic north of Puerto Rico today. Gonzalo passed some 54 miles east of St. John at its closest approach to the Territory at 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
UVI Preparations
· UVI is not in Hurricane Preparedness mode; all operations are back to normal.
· The Reichhold Center Box Office is closed today and will reopen on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
