Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph UVI’s 2014 Shadow Our Student activity conducted by the Student Government Association on UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix on Thursday, Nov. 13.
The annual activity will bring some 150 St. Croix fifth and sixth grade students to UVI for a day of interaction with UVI students and professors, and professionals from the community. This year’s theme is “SOS: Plant A Seed.” SOS is intended to demonstrate the importance of higher education to young people and to share the fact that their goals are attainable and there is support in the community to help them reach these goals.
The highlight of the event will be a motivational presentation by keynote speaker Hoan Do. In addition to being a successful student success coach and author, he is a competitor in NBC’s hit show, American Ninja Warrior. He speaks at colleges and high schools across the U.S., sharing practical advice that helps students to succeed in school and in the real world.
