The University of the Virgin Islands will hold public town hall meetings to discuss the proposed School of Medicine facilities. Following a special Board of Trustees meeting held earlier this month, UVI President Dr. David Hall said that Board Chairman Henry Smock wants to involve stakeholders in thoughtful discussion about the direction of the School of Medicine – particularly the location of the school’s facilities. UVI’s proposed School of Medicine will consist of a facility that will house classrooms and a facility for a state-of-the-art simulation center. The town hall meetings will allow the public an opportunity to learn more about the process and share questions or concerns.
The meetings are scheduled as follows:
- 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1– UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, Great Hall
- 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2 – UVI’s St. Thomas Campus, Administration and Conference Center, Room 146 A
Presentations will be made by President David Hall and Interim Dean of the School of Medicine Dr. Benjamin Sachs. A question and answer period will follow the presentations.
The UVI Board of Trustees will make the final determination on which island each facility will be located.
