Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands’ announcement of a multi-million dollar National Science Foundation, Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) Track-1 grant award to the Virgin Islands Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (VI-EPSCoR). This special announcement will be made at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, in the first-floor conference room of the Administration and Conference Center, room 142-1B on the St. Thomas Campus. The announcement will be video conferenced to Melvin Evans Room 807 on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix.
The U.S. Virgin Islands is one of only six jurisdictions in the U.S. to receive this competitive award. This competitive award will bolster science and engineering academic research infrastructure in the USVI. VI-EPSCoR, a territorial program housed at UVI, promotes the development of the territory's science and technology resources through multi-disciplinary research and educational programs.
V.I. Gov. John P. de Jongh Jr., VI-EPSCoR representatives and UVI President Dr. David Hall will be available for interviews.
