At 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25, at Government House on St. Thomas, the University of the Virgin Islands will announce a major gift by Dr. Chirinjeev Kathuria, chairman of New Generation Power (NGP), for the development of a territory-wide medical school. Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr., and other government leaders will be present to share their support for this project.
In a unanimous vote last week, the UVI Board of Trustees authorized President David Hall to commence the development phase for a medical school in the territory. The Board also approved a major gift agreement between Dr. Kathuria, New Generation Power and UVI for the development phase of the medical school.
