University of the Virgin Islands President Dr. David Hall will
make an official visit to the island of Antigua to meet with
government officials, education administrators and UVI alumni. Dr.
Hall will spend March 19 and 20 on the island meeting with the
Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda the Honorable Dr. Baldwin
Spencer, the principal of Antigua State College Hyram Forde and the
college's students, and the head of the University of the West
Indies Campus Ian Benn.
Dr. Hall will also meet with the nation's top education
officials: the Acting Minister of Education, Sports, Youth and
Gender Affairs the Honorable Winston Williams; the Director of
Education Jacintha Pringle; and the Chairman of the Board of
Education Heather Mannix. The outreach is part of UVI's effort to
strengthen relationships with regional governments and educational
institutions.
All media houses are invited to a press conference with Dr. Hall and the country's leaders at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, at the Ministry of Sports.
Additionally, Dr. Hall has extended a personal invitation to all UVI alumni living on Antigua and Barbuda to join him for an Alumni Meet and Greet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, at the Anchorage Inn Restaurant. Dr. Hall will discuss with alumni the University's new strategic plan "Pathways to Greatness," and will provide campus updates and solicit feedback from alumni.
"Antigua and Barbuda represents one of the largest concentrations of UVI Alumni," said UVI's Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Affairs Linda I. Smith. "Coming off of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations, many alumni outside of the U.S. Virgin Islands did not have the opportunity to participate. We want to ensure that we continue to strengthen the ties and stay connected with the alumni of Antigua and Barbuda - and engage them for their valued support and feedback."
