Members of the media are invited to cover the announcement of a $250,000 donation to the University of the Virgin Islands. The donation will be made by Dale LeFebvre on behalf of Oson, VI, LLC, a management, consulting and investment advisory firm, of which he is managing partner. LeFebvre will announce the donation to UVI at 10 a.m. on Dec. 3, in the third-floor conference room of the Administration and Conference Center on the St. Thomas Campus.
The $250,000 donation will benefit the University in three areas. The LeFebvre Endowed Student Fellowship Award will be created with $100,000. The Oson VI, LLC Endowed Fund for Recruitment and Retention will be created with $100,000. The SAT Preparatory Programs administered by University Bound’s College and Career Readiness Initiative and the 2014 Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning Center SAT Prep Summer Program will each receive $25,000. These donations will support aspiring UVI accounting students, provide much needed financial resources to the University’s student recruitment and retention programs and help Virgin Islands high school students improve their college admissions test scores. The endowments will be established at the Foundation for the University of the Virgin Islands.
The program will include remarks from LeFebvre, Sen. Clifford Graham, Economic Development Commission Chief Executive Officer Percival E. Clouden, UVI President Dr. David Hall and UVI Interim Provost Camille McKayle. A special guest from the office the governor will also be present.
