The University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees reconvened in executive session on Monday, Nov 11, via teleconference. The Board met on St. Croix on Oct. 26, but recessed while in executive session, before completing that session’s agenda to allow several trustees to make their flights back to St. Thomas. After concluding the executive session on Nov. 11, Board of Trustees Chairman Alexander A. Moorhead reported the actions that were taken during the executive session.
They are as follows:
- The minutes of the executive session held on June 15th were approved;
- The candidates proposed for honorary degrees were approved;
- The list of the candidates for speaker at the 2014 commencement exercise was approved;
- The UVI Research and Technology Park Corporation was requested to submit a schedule for the payment of $484,800 owed to the University;
- The UVI Research and Technology Park Corporation's request that the University pledge Parcel No. 12 of VI Corp Land as collateral for a line of credit for the Park's cash flow was approved;
- UVI President Dr. David Hall was authorized to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with Dr. Chirinjeev Kathuria and an affiliate of New Generation Power to establish an endowed fund at the Foundation for the University of the Virgin Islands (FUVI) for the benefit of a medical school and undergraduate and graduate programs related to health and sciences at UVI;
- The Executive Committee's acceptance of President Hall's Self-Assessment on his job performance in 2012-2013 and his proposed Presidential Goals for 2013-2014, on behalf of the BOT, was ratified;
- The Board authorized the Chair of the Board, to negotiate & execute an agreement with Dr. David Hall for his employment in the position of president of the University for the period of Aug. 1, 2014 through July 31, 2019
