The Student Activities Fair will feature table-top displays, information and membership requirements from more than 15 student clubs and organizations, including fraternities and sororities, and the St. Kitts/Nevis Student Association. There will also be a voter's registration drive.
UVI's Access and Enrollment Services will offer admission and registration information to high school juniors and seniors, recent graduates and all others interested in attending UVI.
New this year is a Majors Fair that will provide information on academic majors to prospective students and to current UVI students who are undecided, pre-major, considering changing majors, or who are clarifying career paths within selected majors. There will also be information on internships and career opportunities.
The Annual Health and Wellness Day will offer free blood pressure, blood cholesterol, blood glucose and HIV screenings; massage therapy and other stress reduction techniques; mental health information and more.
Ronda Herbert, Health Services Supervisor on UVI's St. Thomas campus, encourages everyone to take preventative measures to avoid diseases. Regular health screenings, she said, can alert people of the early on-set of some diseases. Herbert said screenings at previous events have alerted attendees to pre-hypertension and pre-diabetic conditions of which they were previously unaware.
"Being able to offer free health screenings for everyone is something that I look forward to every year," Herbert said. The health screenings will be offered by UVI's Health Services, UVI student nurses and other community health care providers.
UVI's Wellness Center will also host fitness class demonstrations in Capoeira, A.B.C. Fitness, Body Work and other exercise techniques at the event.
Fall Fest is free and all are invited. There will be prizes and giveaways throughout the day. For more information call (340) 693-1087 or (340) 693-1124, or send e-mail to vrivers@live.uvi.edu or rhatche2@live.uvi.edu.
