The forum is the senior leadership project of George-Caines. "The purpose of this project is to provide pertinent information for hypertensive patients at risk for major complications such as stroke, chronic kidney disease, heart failure and cardiovascular disease," George-Caines said.
"It is aimed to improve the overall health of the hypertensive population by providing pertinent evidenced-based information to help patients effectively self manage and adapt to lifestyle behaviors to prevent the complications of hypertension," she added. George-Caines has created a "hypertensive fact sheet" that will be given to each hypertensive attendee. The fact sheet will include information about hypertension, and its pathophysiology, risk factors and causes. It will also include information on treatment, such as physical activity and diet, and referral and follow up care with a primary care provider.
The panel discussion is free and open to the public. A special invitation is extended to all individuals with high blood pressure.
