Nov. 12, 2010
The St. Thomas-St. John Agriculture and Food Fair Organizing Committee has announced the cancellation of this year's annual event which was scheduled for Nov. 20-21, on the grounds of the Reichhold Center for the Arts on St. Thomas. "This unfortunate cancellation was made for numerous reasons, many of which were beyond the control of the organizers," the committee wrote. "Some of these factors included the flooding of the fairgrounds, difficulties in securing a suitable alternate site, overnight security for vendors and major losses suffered by farmers during the recent heavy rains."
The committee regrets any inconveniences caused by the cancellation. Fair applicants may collect refunds at the respective offices where application fee payments were made on Monday, Nov. 15. Concerns or questions may be directed to committee members by calling the UVI Cooperative Extension Service at (340) 693-1080 or the Department of Agriculture at (340) 774-5182.
