The University of the Virgin Islands Counseling and Placement offices will host representatives from 15 of the nation's law schools at the 4th Annual Law School Awareness Fair in conjunction with Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law later this month. The law fair will be held on March 19, on UVI's St. Thomas campus, and on March 22, on the St. Croix campus. The fair is open to all students or other members of the community interested in pursuing careers in the legal profession.
Participant Steve Jones, admissions director at Florida Coastal University, is excited about the upcoming event. "We are pleased that for each of the past three years we have been able to recruit outstanding students from UVI," Jones said.
Jones and representatives from 14 other law schools will join with members of the Virgin Islands Bar Association and the American Bar Association's Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) at the fair. CLEO has been at the forefront of helping minority, low income and disadvantaged students gain access to law school, successfully matriculate and pass the bar exam. Details are available at http://cleoscholars.com.
Participating schools include Chapman University School of Law, Concord School of Law, Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University, Florida Coastal School of Law, Golden Gate School of Law, Hofstra University School of Law, Howard University School of Law, New York Law School, St. Thomas University School of Law-Miami, John Marshall Law School, University of Memphis Law School, Vermont Law School, Widener University School of Law, William Mitchell College of Law, and Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
