UVI Vice Provost for Access and Enrollment Services Dr. Judith Edwin has announced the following appointments, which became effective Oct. 1.
Xuri Maurice Allen has been appointed director of Admissions/Recruitment at UVI. Dr. Allen comes to the University of the Virgin Islands from Winston Salem State University (WSSU), where he served as director of Admissions and later as a member of the counseling staff in the University College at WSSU.
Dr. Allen earned a bachelor's degree in English and a master's
degree in counselor education from the University of Virginia, and
a Ph.D. in counseling and counselor education from the University
of North Carolina at Greensboro.
He is a
member of several admissions and enrollment-oriented professional
organizations including the National Association for College
Admissions Counseling, the American Association of Collegiate
Registrars and Admissions Officers, and the Virginia Admissions
Council on Black Concerns, Inc.
Francisca Barry has been appointed to the
position of associate registrar/Admissions on UVI's St. Croix
campus. Ms. Barry, who earned her bachelor's degree in accounting
from the University of the Virgin Islands, has been employed by UVI
for 21 years.
Prior to serving as interim associate registrar/Admissions for the
past two years, Ms. Barry was the academic records officer within
the Access and Enrollment Services area.
Cheryl Roberts has been appointed director of
the Financial Aid Office at the University of the Virgin Islands.
Ms. Roberts, who holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and a
master's degree in business from UVI, has worked in UVI's Financial
Aid Office for 18 years.
Stationed on the island of St. Croix, Ms. Roberts will oversee the
UVI Financial Aid Office operations on both campuses.
