National CPA Chairman To Visit St. Croix, St. Thomas

The Virgin Islands Board of Accountancy announces the visit this week of Ernie Almonte, Chairman of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Almonte, who chairs the nation's largest organization of CPAs, will kick off a financial literacy campaign in the territory with a presentation on UVI's St. Croix campus on Thursday, January 15. On Friday, January 16, Almonte will give a presentation at a luncheon meeting at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef on St. Thomas. Both events are open to the public.

Mr. Almonte's presentation on Thursday, January 15, will take place from 7 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. in Room 401 of the Melvin Evans Center on the St. Croix campus, with a video link to the Chase Auditorium (Business Building Room 110) on UVI's St. Thomas campus.

As individuals in the territory and the nation struggle to understand rapidly changing financial conditions across the globe, Almonte, who is Auditor General of the state of Rhode Island, will provide perspective on the economic future.

The public is invited to attend both events. The St. Thomas luncheon for AICPA Chairman Almonte will take place at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef on Friday, January 16, from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Luncheon tickets are $30.00 per person.
