Third Annual Woodworkers' Expo to be Held on St. Thomas

The University of the Virgin Islands' Cooperative Extension Service (CES) announces the third annual Virgin Islands Woodworkers Expo. This event will take place at the UVI Sport and Fitness Center on the St. Thomas campus from Dec. 5 through 7. It will feature the works of members of the St. Thomas/St. John Woodworkers Society and of St. Croix Wood Artists, Inc. The expo opens at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 and at 10 a.m. on Dec. 6 and 7.

The expo offers the opportunity to view and purchase exquisite quality work made by some of the finest woodworkers anywhere. Also planned are demonstrations by master woodworkers Avelino Samuel of St. John and Afreekan Southwell of St. Thomas.

The expo is the ideal place to purchase holiday gifts.

It is sponsored by UVI's CES in partnership with the V.I. Department of Agriculture, the V.I. Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts and the West Indian Company, Ltd.

Individuals who are not members of the woodworkers groups also have the opportunity to exhibit and sell locally made wood products by applying for space at the office of the Cooperative Extension Service on UVI's St. Thomas campus. For more information, contact Carlos Robles at 693-1080.
