Information for Incoming NSE Students

Welcome to the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). We are excited that you have chosen to attend UVI as a NSE student, and we are looking forward to meeting you for your semester or academic year exchange. Even though you have been accepted to UVI for the NSE program, you still need to formally apply to the school. Click here to complete the application.

To be admitted to the University, the following must be submitted:

  • Your UVI application form. Students attending the St. Thomas Campus must send a check or money order for $25 made payable to the University of the Virgin Islands.
  • You must send an OFFICIAL copy of your current academic transcript.

All completed forms and payments must be mailed directly to the NSE Coordinator.

PLACEMENT ACCEPTANCE FORM (PAF) - If you have not signed your PAF form, please contact your NSE coordinator at your home campus. This document confirms your participation in the program for the upcoming academic year.

REGISTRATION - Click here to complete your registration form. We encourage you to register as soon as possible because classes close quickly at the University. Failure to adhere to this deadline can result in you not getting the classes you need.

With the assistance from your academic advisor, select the courses for which you wish to be registered for at UVI.

  • You can view the schedule for the Sheen Campus on St. Croix and the St. Thomas Campuses by clicking here.
  • When you select courses, carefully examine the online course catalog by clicking here to plan your schedule.
  • You must register for a minimum of 12 credit hours.

FINANCIAL AID- If you are requesting financial aid and are on Plan A, make sure that you have completed the current year FAFSA. If you have not added UVI to your FAFSA form, please do so immediately. Your financial aid will be disbursed by UVI not your home campus. The Financial Aid Office will request a final transcript to determine your class standing to disburse your financial aid.

  • Plan B students- Your financial aid will be disbursed by your home institution.

HEALTH FORM- Complete the Student Health Form by clicking here. You must submit a copy of your immunization record as well as your lab results. You must have the required immunizations and have these forms on file prior to your arrival on campus. You will not be allowed to move on campus without these documents. The forms are to be sent directly to the NSE Coordinator.

HOUSING- Complete the housing application and mail it to the NSE Coordinator with a $100 housing deposit. Please make money order out to the University of the Virgin Islands.

ORIENTATION- NSE students are required to attend the New and Transfer Student Orientation Program. Orientation schedule is available on at www.uvi.edu
Classes begin the week following Orientation.

NSE ACTIVITY FEE- There is a non-refundable $90 National Student Exchange activity fee for the St. Thomas Campus. The fee is paid to cover the cost of participating in a cultural activity during the semester. Make your check or money order payable to the University of the Virgin Islands. All payments should be mailed directly to Dahlia Stridiron, NSE Coordinator.
There is no activity fee required for the Sheen Campus on St. Croix.

NSE students have been extremely adept in exploring the many cultural offerings that the Virgin Islands have to offer.
