The 13D Business Launch is set to start on Tuesday, Nov. 27 there will be a meeting from 2 to 5 p.m. in the back left corner of the Ralph A. Paiewonsky Library on the St Thomas Campus in Room L-107. A room on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix is being identified to use for weekly meetings from 2 to 5 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 4. All meetings will be held in the same room on Tuesdays.
This schedule will continue starting on Jan. 15, 2019, and throughout the duration of the Spring semester.
Students will be introduced to the competition and will build businesses from scratch on the whiteboard in less than an hour in order for them to see the process and begin applying it to their business ideas.
There is no need to worry if your work schedule will be in conflict with Tuesday afternoons; there will be special meeting times but students must submit their names by email to have their names placed on the list.
There is a lot of exciting changes to the competition in the last year which includes:
- The ability of judges to award all final round teams with some level of funding.
- The extremely exciting entrepreneurship Gala event at the end of the semester where we celebrate all the entrepreneurship activity on campus in one grand event.
The prize money of $60,000 to launch small lean businesses will be awarded in the spring of 2019.
