UVI basketball fans get their first opportunity to see the Lady Bucs in home-court action on Friday, Feb. 14. UVI’s varsity squads host the women’s and men’s teams from Puerto Rico’s Metropolitan University (UMET). The women’s game begins at 1 p.m. in the Sports and Fitness Center on St. Thomas. The Bucs men’s team will take on their UMET counterparts beginning at 3 p.m.
The UVI community – students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends – are encouraged to come out and support the University’s athletes by dressing in the teams’ blue and white colors on Friday.
Two additional home games, originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15, against UPR-Rio Piedras’ women’s and men’s teams, have been rescheduled by the LAI league office. UVI will now host UPR-Rio Piedras in games on Saturday, March 1. There are no games slated for Feb. 15. The Buccaneers stand at 4-4 overall, and 4-0 in LAI play. The Lady Bucs’ season record is 1-1.
