UVI Celebrating 50 Years with Golden Jubilee in 2012
In recognition of the founding of the University of the Virgin Islands 50 years ago, UVI is celebrating its "Golden Jubilee" throughout the 2012 calendar year. A wide variety of Golden Jubilee events is being planned, giving students, alumni, faculty, staff, supporters, friends and past and current administrators an opportunity to commemorate the University's history, to celebrate its current successes and to plan for the future. A schedule of events planned for the first three months of 2012 - including kickoff receptions scheduled for Jan. 25, 26 and 27 on St. John, St. Thomas and St. Croix, respectively, is available from this direct link. The theme for the Golden Jubilee is "Honoring Our Past - Creating Our Future."
"It is an extremely special honor to serve as President of the University of the Virgin Islands during the time when we celebrate the 50-year journey of this very special institution," said Dr. Hall, who began his tenure as the fifth president in 2009. "UVI was carved from a "stone of need" but has grown to become a jewel of the Caribbean. I am convinced that our next 50 years will be even greater than the first because of the wonderful foundation laid by those who came before, and the outstanding qualities of this present generation of students, faculty, staff and supporters. There is no limit to what UVI can achieve."
