Over the next several years UVI will be transformed by an increase in access to information technology through its Research and Technology Park, by expanded course offerings that reflect the demands of the global economy, by partnerships and collaborations with other universities and research institutions, and by developing strategic alliances with local, regional, national, and global businesses.

UVI provides intellectual and educational leaders, as well as leadership in higher education, economic development, and Caribbean issues throughout the region and beyond.

UVI is an essential and progressive resource for post-secondary training and development, research, economic development, and the general improvement of the lives and careers of Virgin Islanders and the Eastern Caribbean.

The University of the Virgin Islands is in a unique geographical location and combines roles that, in most mainland settings, are dispersed among different institutions of post-secondary education: community colleges, colleges, and universities.

UVI is not a charity. It employs 600 full, part-time, and temporary local workers who contribute nearly $15 million in purchasing power to the local economy.

UVI demonstrates fiscal responsibility by seeking foundation and grants funding and by aggressively leveraging its income sources to produce additional income.
It is an investment in the future of our society.
