On Sunday, March 21, 2021, Afternoon on the Green will celebrate 30 years with a difference. Virtual attendees will have their appetites wet as they watch selected cooks whip up some of the most favored, mouthwatering foods. With a packed schedule of exhilarating entertainment and family fun, it promises to have the entire family glued to their devices. This year's event is celebrated under the theme: "Stream 2021 Afternoon on the Green." All proceeds from Afternoon on the Green will support the Edward E. Thomas Volunteer Scholarship Awards.

Food
Virtual viewers will have their pallets awakened as they watch the decadent dishes being prepared, and reminisce on the inviting aromas usually experienced on the green. Some of the dishes featured include Filipino egg rolls, saltfish quiche, and pineapple barbecue spicy chicken. A host of traditional Caribbean favorites will be on hand, including, saltfish cook-up, peas soup, chicken, shrimp and lamb roti, banana fritters, turkey kalalloo and goat water. Desserts range from delectable Vienna Cake and cornbread to passion fruit angel cake and an assortment of cupcakes. Some of the refreshing beverages complimenting the food are 'Popeye's Revenge, Cool Breeze, and Chemical X.'

Entertainment

Local performers are put center-stage at Afternoon on the Green. This year's entertainment line-up is as follows:

Family Fun
Don't leave the children out! Parents are encouraged to have the children join them to enjoy the many activities from  traditional games to creating balloon shaped animals. For the first time in the kids zone, children can look forward to learning how to build a Go Kart.

Activities
Returning this year is the newly added Cultural Pop-Up Tent hosted by Reichhold Center for the Arts, which will feature Virgin Islands traditions and culture. The Pop-Up will include activities such as moko jumbies performing, costume building, wire bending art, go-cart racing, traditional games, quadrille dancing, kite making and fish-pot making. As customary, UVI will display the many degree programs and opportunities available for students. Faculty, staff and students from maths and science, business, education, nursing, agriculture and other departments will share their projects and activities with prospective students and the general public.
