Community Service Photo Gallery
Students, alumni, faculty and staff from the University of the Virgin Islands often participate in exciting opportunities to help make our communities a better place to live. During the Summer of 2015, UVI organized several community service projects where employees and students had the opportunity to participate in community outreach projects:
- On Wednesday July 29 on St. Croix, UVI volunteers painted and installed equipment at the Alexander Henderson Elementary School.
- On Thursday July 30 on St. Thomas, UVI volunteers beautified a therapeutic serenity garden at the Family Resource Center and, in conjunction with My Brothers Workshop, helped to paint picnic tables and raised garden beds at Addelita Cancryn Junior High School.
- On Wednesday August 12 on St. Croix, UVI community delivered education and school related supplies to the Queen Louise Home for Children as part of our Backpacks for Success outreach project.
In alignment with the University’s mission and prestigious Carnegie Foundation community engagement designation, we helped make the places and people around us better by pausing from our daily routines and planting some seeds of love, generosity and inspiration. We plan to implement more community service projects in the future. Project #1: Alexander Henderson Elementary SchoolVolunteers, including Dr. David Hall, students, professional staff, and clubs and organizations grouped for a celebratory photo marking the completion of the University of the Virgin Islands, Albert A. Sheen Campus Community Service Project at the Alexander Henderson Elementary School.
