Persons may enroll in courses at the University of the Virgin Islands as non-matriculated students. Non-matriculated students are those who successfully completed secondary school and either (a) wish to take courses at the university without seeking a UVI degree or (b) applied for admission to the university but were inadmissible at the point of initial application. In the case of the latter category, non-matriculated students may subsequently apply for matriculated student status after earning a minimum of 18 credits in University of the Virgin Islands courses numbered 100 and above with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. These credits must include the general education requirements in English and the general education mathematics and science credits required by the degree they tend to pursue.
There is no application for non-matriculated student enrollment. Interested persons register for courses they are capable of taking, per university policy, at the time designated for non-matriculated student registration during the fall, spring, and summer registration periods.
Non-matriculated students are limited to part-time study (11.5 credits or fewer) per term and are ineligible for financial aid and on campus housing.
For assistance with registration, please contact the Registrar's Office by phone call (340) 693-1166 (St. Thomas Campus) or (340) 692-4104 (Albert Sheen Campus) or by email at registrar@uvi.edu.
