The UVI and wider VI Caribbean community are invited to an observance at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 as UVI celebrates the 5th anniversary of the official launch of the Virgin Islands Caribbean Cultural Center (VICCC). This “VICCC@5Years” gathering will be held in the VICCC suites in the Dorsch Administration Suites, AA101 Conference Suite, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. The gathering will include interactive media presentations on the progress, mission and goals of the VICCC at UVI. Faculty, students, staff, VI community and media representatives are welcomed to attend. Reflections and forthcoming publications on VICCC's relief and recovery from Hurricanes Irma and Maria will be shared.
VICCC is nestled within the University's College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS). VICCC collaboratively and cooperatively serves as an educational research and community programming liaison designated to create an interdisciplinary and transcultural reservoir of resources and initiatives for faculty, students, administration, staff and the community to maintain and sustain public access to materials that nurture, preserve, research, document, restore, promote, protect and respect Virgin Islands Caribbean culture.
