Volunteers Need for UVI’s William P. MacLean Marine Science Center (CMES) Clean-up

The Virgin Islands community is invited to take part in a clean-up effort at UVI's William P. MacLean Marine Science Center (CMES) from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Wed. Oct. 25, 2017.

The event will comprise of three main activities. A cleanup of the surrounding outside area, red mangrove plantings, and the use of an ROV (remote-operated-vehicle) to survey underwater habitat within the area. 

Volunteers should wear clean-up appropriate clothing: closed-toe shoes, a hat, and long pants preferably. Gloves, water, insect repellent and food provided by My Brother Workshop Cafe will be provided to volunteers. There will also be planting of red mangrove trees within the area to help restore some of the habitats for birds, fish, and other marine life.

Interested persons willing to assist with this activity should wear and walk with clothing that can get wet.
