UVI Community Service Project to ‘Decorate a Pot’ to Add Positive Spin to ‘4/20 Day’

The University community is invited to “Decorate a Pot” for seniors to add a positive spin to “4/20 Day,” a code-term that refers to the annual consumption of cannabis. April 20, has become a counterculture holiday in North America, where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis. Some events have a political nature to them, advocating for the legalization of cannabis.

UVI’s Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS Prevention Program, Cooperative Extension Service, and Counseling and Career Services have partnered to give this event a new tradition.

The UVI community is invited to spend a relaxing day decorating pots for residents of the Lucinda Millin and Queen Louise Homes. The service project will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UVI Bookstore’s parking lot on the St. Thomas Campus. All of the needed supplies have been donated by My Brother’s Workshop and the Bryan Plant Nursery and will be provided. For more information contact Alyssa Ryan at alyssa.ryan@live.uvi.edu
