VIUCEDD will host Disability 101 Autism trainings from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 27, in Business Building BUS-110 on the St. Thomas Campus. Trainings will also be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 29, in the UVI Cooperative Extension Room CES-113. The training is titled “Disability 101: Everything You Wanted to Know About Autism and Other High Incidence Disabilities But Were Afraid to Ask.”
VIUCEDD Associate Director Dr. Kimberly Mills and Island Therapy Solutions Clinical Psychologist Dr. Lindsy Wagner will facilitate the trainings. The VIUCEDD sessions will provide an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders, other pervasive developmental disorders and high incidence disabilities in general. This training will highlight the latest research into programs and methodologies shown to mitigate some of the problems associated with having a diagnosis of autism and general strategies for working with other people with high incidence disabilities.
