The Student Government Association will host its 9th annual Shadow Our Students (SOS) program from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, on UVI's Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. The program is designed to enhance UVI's recruitment efforts and build mentoring relationships between UVI students and graduating seniors in the local high schools. This year’s theme is “Plant A Seed in Good Soil and it will Grow.” The goal is to inspire those in attendance to transition from good to great and build a lasting connection with these students.
Participants will learn more about the benefits of a college education, the many opportunities for advancement offered by the University of the Virgin Islands. Participants get a taste of student life at our University for an entire day. Previous SOS Programs have inspired many local high school students to attend colleges, universities and other institutions of higher learning.
Volunteers are needed for the SOS program. Student volunteers can sign-up in the Office of Student Activities or email Student Activities Director Hedda Finch-Simpson at hfinch@uvi.edu.
