Activities commemorating World AIDS Day 2014 are being planned on UVI’s campus on St. Croix and St. Thomas. This year’s theme is “Focus, Partner, Achieve: An AIDS-Free Generation.” UVI’s Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS Prevention Student Peer Educators and the Health Services Division have joined forces to host a number of events. Some lead up events include:
- Monday, Nov. 24, HIV testing is planned on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Also a lunch with River Houston is scheduled. River Huston is an AIDS activist and motivational speaker who contracted HIV during her senior year in college.
- Tuesday, Nov. 25 HIV testing is scheduled on the St. Thomas Campus. Also, a lunch session with River Huston and a Red Pump/Red Tie event are planned.
On World AIDS Day – Monday, Dec. 1 – organizers will distribute red ribbons and other promotional materials on both campuses. For more information, contact Alyssa Ryan at (340) 693-1122.
