The public is invited to participate in the observance of International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix in Evans Center Room 401 and in North West Wing Room 103, on Saturday, Nov. 22. Sponsored by the UVI Psychology Club, the activity marks the one day a year when people affected by suicide loss gather at events in their communities worldwide to find comfort and gain understanding as they share stories of healing and hope.
This year’s gatherings will include a screening of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s compelling new documentary, “The Journey.” Breakout groups for teens/friends, parents, spouses and partners will discuss the specific impact of and recovery from suicide loss. Other sponsors of the activity are the Jared’s Keepers Foundation and the Students Against Drunk Driving chapter at Good Hope County Day School. For more information contact Psychology Club faculty advisor Dr. Aletha Baumann at aletha.baumann@uvi.edu or call (340) 692-4178.
