Two days of roundtable discussions focused on celebrating and empowering women are being planned by UVI’s Virgin Islands Caribbean Cultural Center (VICCC) and the Office of Student Housing on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. They are scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, and Thursday, March 27. The effort is in celebration of International Women's Month and Virgin Islands History Month in 2014.
The roundtable on March 26, which begins at noon, is an invitational activity that will highlight “A Celebration of Women.” The discussion on March 27, which begins at 7 p.m., is in the UVI Great Hall and is open to the general public. Its topic will be "Reclaiming Your Power Through Education, Entrepreneurship and Personal Development." Scheduled roundtable presenters are notable women from the Virgin Islands, the Caribbean and abroad. Dr. Nancy Turner Banks, a world-renowned physician and the award-winning author of “AIDS, Opium, Diamonds, and Empire,” will present keynote addresses at both sessions.
To confirm your attendance and participation, please R.S.V.P. to Women…ARISE! on or before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19. For additional information, call the VICCC at (340) 692-4272 or the Office of Student Housing at (340) 692-4194.
