Steven M. Rothstein, president of Perkins School for the Blind, will make presentations in March to interested Virgin Islands organizations on the National Deaf-Blind Equipment Distribution Program called "ICanConnect." The purpose of ICanConnect, a program of the Federal Communications Commission, is to ensure that all persons with combined hearing and vision loss have access to modern telecommunication tools and the training needed to use them. The goal is to provide all with the opportunity to interact with the world as involved, contributing members of society.
Rothstein's local presentations, sponsored by the VI University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VIUCEDD), are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on March 17, on St. Thomas, and on March 18, on St. Croix. The St. Thomas session takes place in the second-floor conference room of UVI's Administration and Conference Center, while the St. Croix event will be held in the Room 133 of the Research and Extension Center on UVI's Albert A. Sheen Campus. Space at the presentations is limited. Persons who wish to attend should contact VIUCEDD to register. Call (340) 776-9200 ex: 2334 on St. Thomas or (340) 692-4266 on St. Croix.
