UVI to Host Students from Insular Land Grant Schools for Summer Internship Program June 1-20

UVI’s Agricultural Experiment Station will host students from six other Insular Land Grant institutions on the Albert A Sheen Campus on St. Croix from June 1 to 20. The students – from University of Puerto Rico, University of Guam, American Samoa Community College, the College of the Marshall Islands, Palau Community College and the College of the Federated States of Micronesia – will participate in a summer internship summer program supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture grant program.

While on St. Croix the students will reside in campus housing and participate in research program activities at UVI’s Agricultural Experiment Station (AES), visit local farms and ag-related businesses, and local cultural exhibits and facilities. UVI students have participated in such internships in recent years. This summer, UVI students Kenya Emanuel and Shamali Dennery, who attended internships Guam and Northern Marianas, respectively, will be serving as chaperones for the visiting students. For more information contact AES Director Dr. Robert Godfrey at (340) 692-4042 or send e-mail to rgodfre@uvi.edu.
