UVI’s AES Director Dr. Robert Godfrey Tapped for Kansas State Lecture Series

Dr. Robert Godfrey, director of UVI’s Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and professor of animal science, will be a guest lecturer at Kansas State University in the Department of Animal Science and Industry on March 25-26. His lectures are part of the ADVANCE Distinguish Lecture Series (ADLS), sponsored by the K-State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering.

Dr. Godfrey, who received a BS in animal science and industry from K-State in 1980, was nominated by Dr. Lindsey Hulbert, associate professor of physiology and behavior at K-State. Drs. Godfrey and Hulbert are collaborators on a USDA-NIFA W-2173 multistate research project titled “Impacts of Stress Factors on Performance, Health, and Well-Being of Farm Animals.”

The presentation will include detailed research conducted by Dr. Godfrey, his staff and students at UVI’s AES. That work evaluated the impact of the tropical environment on the physiology of hair sheep and Senepol cattle in the U.S. Virgin Islands. For more information, contact Dr. Godfrey at (340) 692-4042.
