Public Observing Sessions at UVI’s Etelman Observatory Scheduled for March 28

UVI will host the next public observing session using the Virgin Islands Robotic Telescope (VIRT) at its Etelman Observatory on St. Thomas from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, March 28. Visitors will be treated to views of the planets Jupiter and Mars, the Orion Nebula, and the new supernova SN2014J, among other celestial sights. The evening will also feature a video presentation and lecture describing the remarkable announcement this past week of the detection of the polarization of the cosmic microwave background radiation and its implications on our understanding of the universe. The evening’s video is titled "Inflating Our Understanding of Our Universe: A View Into the First Instant of Time."
