CES Schedules Free Healthy Homes Workshops in January

A series of Healthy Homes Workshops is planned by the Cooperative Extension Service (CES) at the University of the Virgin Islands in January. The free workshops provide training on potentially toxic properties and adverse health effects of common household cleaning products and other items such as pesticides, furniture and treated fabrics. Participants will also learn how to read product labels and evaluate potential product toxicity, recipes for less-toxic cleaning alternatives using common household items and how to properly dispose of household hazardous waste.. Workshops will be held on the following schedule.

  • Jan. 21 – 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Room 133 of the Research and Extension Center on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. A session for UVI staff members is slated from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on St. Croix.
  • Jan. 22 – 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. at the St. John Academic Center at the Market Place in Cruz Bay, St. John.
  • Jan. 23 – 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Administration and Conference Center on the St. Thomas Campus.
